Holly'wedding day

Holly’s wedding morning was calm, golden and beautifully unhurried - the kind of spring day you secretly hope for.

With just four of us for makeup and a civilised 8:30am start, there was space to breathe. Godwick Hall gave us the dreamiest setting: natural light pouring in, separate rooms for hair and makeup, and that relaxed countryside atmosphere that instantly makes everything feel easy.

Of course, no wedding morning is completely without drama - a little red dust from the fields made an unexpected appearance on Holly’s dress. Thankfully, my emergency kit (and a very handy piece of chalk) saved the day. Holly, who works as a midwife, handled it all with total calm - which tells you everything you need to know about her.

The venue: Godwick Hall, Norfolk

Godwick Hall is full of character - grand without feeling intimidating, elegant but still warm and welcoming.

The countryside views, soft Norfolk light and separate prep spaces make it ideal for a smooth wedding morning. It’s the kind of venue where everything flows naturally, and your makeup needs to complement that softness rather than compete with it.

If you’re planning a wedding at Godwick Hall, glowing skin and fresh, romantic tones always work beautifully against its rustic charm.

The bridal vision

Holly wanted something natural, radiant and softly defined - a look that felt polished but never heavy.

The vibe of the day was light-hearted and joyful. Music playing, sunshine streaming in, bridesmaids laughing - one of those mornings where everything simply aligned.

The makeup look

We kept Holly’s look fresh and luminous to suit both her personality and the spring setting.

  • Soft golden tones through the eyes

  • Individual lashes for subtle lift and definition

  • A radiant, light-reflective base

  • Natural lip shade to keep everything balanced

  • Gentle warmth through the cheeks for that bridal glow

Nothing overpowering. Nothing too sculpted. Just enhanced, glowing skin and beautifully blended definition.

Later in the day, when a post-ceremony refresh was needed (thank you, countryside wind), the VIP touch-up package meant she was photo-ready again in minutes.

Why this look worked so well

Godwick Hall’s countryside backdrop and bright outdoor spaces call for makeup that:

  • Looks seamless in natural daylight

  • Feels lightweight but lasts all day

  • Enhances rather than masks

  • Transitions effortlessly from ceremony to golden hour

The key was balance - enough longevity to hold up in outdoor conditions, but soft enough to suit the relaxed spring atmosphere.

And most importantly, Holly felt completely herself.

A note from Holly

“I am so pleased I chose Hannah to do mine, the bridesmaids and MOB makeup on my wedding day. I had a trial where I was able to ensure I was happy, and Hannah then ensured all details were replicated on the wedding day. Hannah was not just a makeup artist but was also there helping with bouquets and having photos taken! She even ran back to find chalk after a wedding dress accident! Thank you so much for being our makeup artist - making us all feel beautiful and helping throughout the day.”
