Megan'wedding day

Some weddings stay with you long after the final brush has been packed away - and Megan’s was one of them.

I’d done her makeup before as a guest at friends’ weddings, so being asked to be part of her own wedding morning at Hengrave Hall felt incredibly special. It was a full-circle moment - calm, joyful and full of meaning from the very start.

The venue: Hengrave Hall, Suffolk

Hengrave Hall is one of Suffolk’s most breathtaking wedding venues. Set within 350 acres of private countryside, it has this quiet grandeur - historic, romantic and effortlessly elegant.

The light inside the hall is soft and flattering, which makes it perfect for refined, glowing bridal makeup. It’s the kind of venue where timeless beauty works best - nothing too harsh or trend-led, just polished, elevated and completely considered.

If you’re planning a wedding at Hengrave Hall, the setting naturally calls for something classic and luminous.

The bridal vision

Megan’s day was the definition of timeless elegance with modern touches.

Her bridesmaids wore chic black dresses that stood out beautifully against the historic backdrop. A string quartet played as she walked down the aisle, and there was this calm, emotional energy all morning - the kind that makes everything feel intentional and intimate.

She wanted to feel like herself - just refined, radiant and confident.

The makeup look

We created a soft glam bridal look that felt fresh, classic and completely true to her.

  • Radiant, skin-like base with a natural glow

  • Champagne and soft rose tones through the eyes

  • Individually placed lashes for subtle lift and definition

  • Pink blush to add warmth and softness

  • A flattering, romantic lip inspired by Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk

Everything was designed to complement her dress and the architectural beauty of Hengrave Hall - not compete with it.

The finish was polished and long-lasting, enhancing her features while still feeling effortless.

Why this look worked so well

Hengrave Hall has texture, depth and beautiful natural light - but it also transitions into candlelight and evening photography.

The makeup needed to:

  • Photograph beautifully in both natural and flash lighting

  • Stay flawless through emotional moments

  • Feel lightweight but structured

  • Enhance rather than overpower

Soft glam is perfect for venues like this because it holds its own without ever feeling heavy.

Megan still looked like herself - just elevated - and that’s always the goal.

A note from Megan

“I asked Hannah to be my makeup artist for my wedding in May at Hengrave Hall. She did mine, three bridesmaids and both mums, and everyone felt out of this world by the time she had worked her magic. There was no rush - she listened to each of us and delivered the most effortless, flawless looks that lasted all day.

Hannah has an infectious laugh that puts you at ease on the morning of your wedding and is there on hand to help out with anything else she can. I would thoroughly recommend Hannah’s services to anyone getting married or just looking for professional makeup that lasts.”
