What do brides forget on the wedding morning?
Even the most organised bride can forget something on her wedding morning.
You’ll remember your dress.
You’ll remember your vows.
But it’s usually the little, practical things that get missed.
After hundreds of wedding mornings across Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and East Anglia, I’ve seen it all - and quietly stepped in more than once.
Here’s what brides most commonly forget (and what’s worth packing ahead of time).
Snacks and water
Adrenaline often replaces breakfast. Pack:
-
Easy snacks (granola bars, pastries, fruit)
-
A bottle of water
-
Something with protein if you can
You’ll feel steadier, clearer and far less overwhelmed if you’ve eaten.
A phone charger or power bank
Your phone works overtime on a wedding morning.
Suppliers call.
Guests message.
Photos get taken.
A charger nearby is essential - bonus points if someone else is in charge of it so you’re not glued to your screen.
A speaker for music
Music completely changes the atmosphere.
Whether it’s calm acoustic playlists or full sing-along energy, don’t rely on venue silence. A small Bluetooth speaker makes all the difference.
Tissues (more than you think)
Someone will cry.
Often multiple times.
Tissues - and cotton buds - are always needed.
A steamer
Bridesmaid dresses crease.
Robes crease.
Even veils can crease.
If someone remembers the steamer, you’ll be grateful.
A crochet hook
Tiny dress buttons are beautiful… and fiddly.
A crochet hook makes fastening them so much easier. It’s one of those things no one thinks of - until they need it.
Spare evening shoes
Heels from 12pm to 12am? Brave.
Even if you think you’ll manage, pack something comfortable for later.
Scissors and safety pins
Tags. Loose threads. Broken straps.
These appear more often than you’d think. I carry them in my kit - but having backups never hurts.
Perfume
In the rush, it’s surprisingly easy to forget.
A soft spritz just before getting dressed becomes part of the memory of your day.
Mints
For the aisle.
For the first kiss.
For close-up photos.
Small detail. Big impact.
Button-up pyjamas
Pulling a T-shirt over freshly styled hair and makeup is not ideal.
Button-up or zip-front outfits are wedding-morning approved.
A mini emergency kit
It doesn’t need to be dramatic - just the basics:
-
Blister plasters
-
Paracetamol
-
Tampons
-
Antihistamines
-
Rehydration sachets
Someone will need something.
In summary
You don’t need to remember everything.
But packing a few clever extras can turn a slightly chaotic morning into a smooth one.
And if I’m your makeup artist? Just know - I’m probably carrying most of this already.
