Megan'wedding day

For Megan, the most important thing about her wedding morning wasn’t just how it looked - it was how it felt.

She wanted calm. Space. Structure. A start to the day that eased nerves rather than added to them.

With five makeup services and a 2pm ceremony, everything needed to run smoothly. Thankfully, Parklands at Quendon Hall gave us the perfect setup - separate prep spaces for hair and makeup and the option to stay on-site the night before, meaning no rushing between locations.

From the moment I arrived, it was all about creating a relaxed, well-organised atmosphere.

The venue: Parklands, Quendon Hall

Parklands at Quendon Hall is one of Essex’s most elegant countryside wedding venues - grand but welcoming, with beautiful prep spaces that make the morning feel effortless.

The venue’s natural light and classic interiors call for timeless bridal makeup - soft, glowing and refined rather than trend-led.

And with unexpectedly warm weather on the day, longevity was just as important as glow.

The bridal vision

Megan described herself as someone who can feel a little anxious - so our focus was reassurance and structure.

She loved the idea of a colour-coded morning schedule (my favourite kind of detail), and once everything was mapped out, the energy instantly shifted. Everyone knew where they needed to be and when. No guesswork. No stress.

By the time we reached the final touches, Megan had a few quiet moments to herself before the ceremony - exactly what she needed.

And yes, her sparkly Jimmy Choo trainers were the perfect mix of glamour and comfort.

The makeup look

Megan and her mum had their preview together a few months earlier, which meant we could refine everything in advance and remove any uncertainty from the morning.

Neither of them wear heavy makeup day-to-day, so we kept the look soft, warm and natural.

  • Radiant, glow-enhancing base

  • Warm neutral tones through the eyes

  • Soft lash definition for subtle lift

  • Natural pink lip for freshness

  • Long-wear, heat-resistant layering to prevent redness and shine

With higher-than-expected temperatures at Parklands, product choice was crucial. Everything was layered and locked in to ensure her makeup stayed flawless from ceremony to evening reception.

The result? Polished, luminous and completely her.

Why this look worked so well

For a summer wedding at Parklands, the makeup needed to:

  • Feel lightweight in warm weather

  • Photograph beautifully in natural daylight

  • Last through emotional moments and heat

  • Suit a bride who doesn’t usually wear much makeup

By balancing glow with structure and setting everything strategically, her look stayed fresh all day and into the night.

But just as importantly - she felt calm.

A note from Megan

“Hannah was an absolute joy to work with! From our very first email conversations to on our big day, I couldn’t fault her professionalism and organisation. Hannah’s booking process was straightforward and her online system allowed me to keep track of payments pending which as a busy bride-to-be was so helpful! My mum and I had trials around 3 months before the wedding and Hannah made us both feel at ease. On the day everything ran so smoothly and was even colour coded! Everyone looked absolutely stunning and despite it being a pretty warm day our makeup lasted all day and night! I would recommend Hannah in a heartbeat!”
